Helping those affected by suicide

What About Us? Training Course

Training Course

What About Us? is a four hour, face-to-face training course designed for groups of 12 participants. The course is intentionally hard hitting. It aims to make participants consider the wide ranging consequences of suicide, impacts that are rarely discussed and often never considered.

The course, will use a multi-layered approach, bringing together the experiences of a wide variety of people who have encountered suicide both professionally or personally, or in some cases, both.

Who is the course for?

There’s no single reason to take this course because the reason is yours. Whether you’re passionate about mental health, completing training through work, seeking a real and honest insight into life within the emergency services and behind the scenes, or looking for practical support for yourself or someone else, this course meets you where you are.

Designed for anyone who wants to better understand, support, or strengthen mental wellbeing, our content is relevant, relatable, and rooted in real experience. If you’re looking to learn, reflect, or make a difference, this course is for you.

“My combined experiences, professional and personal, have shown me how profoundly suicide affects far more people than most of us realise. The course is intentionally hard hitting, and its aim is to make participants consider the wide-ranging consequences of suicide, some of which are rarely discussed and often never considered. There are layers of emotional, relational, professional, and practical consequences that deserve to be understood. What About Us? aims to fill this gap.”

The course is designed for up to 12 participants. We encourage small group sizes to support open and honest conversations and to ensure participants get the most out of the course activities. This number works best; however, please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

The course is delivered face-to-face to ensure an engaging and interactive learning experience. We can deliver the training at your offices or chosen venue, or, by prior arrangement, we can organise a suitable venue for you.

Participant wellbeing is at the heart of our course design. To ensure appropriate support throughout, all participants complete a screening questionnaire both before and after the course. These questionnaires have been developed by a qualified psychologist/therapist and help assess wellbeing at key stages of the learning journey.

From the outset, participants are reassured that they can take a break at any time. Our trainers actively promote a safe, supportive environment and are attentive to individual needs throughout the session.

Recognising the sensitive nature of the topics covered, the course is intentionally limited to four hours, allowing for meaningful engagement without overwhelm.

Beyond the course itself, participants are signposted to additional support via our website. Our 24/7 AI-powered live chat service offers a confidential, non-judgemental listening ear, 365 days a year. This service is ideal for those who may find it difficult to speak with friends or family and includes signposting to relevant specialist organisations where appropriate.
